Eighteen venues. Eleven days. And NEP covered it all. The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games was the largest sporting event in Australia this decade, complete with opening and closing ceremonies, 18 sports and seven para-sports.
NEP provided HD coverage from beginning to end, and coordinated all broadcasting activity from a custom International Broadcast Center. From there, NEP’s experienced personnel handled incoming video and audio from all venues, distributed feeds to broadcast rights-holders’ home countries, and managed outgoing worldwide transmissions from rights-holders on site. All told, we stationed over 1,450 broadcast technical and operational experts on the ground, deployed 280 cameras at venues in and around the gold coast, ran more than 450km or wire and transmitted over 1,400 hours of live television via 25 OB vehicles and control rooms.
But we were more than ready for it. After all, this was the fourth time we covered the Commonwealth Games.
